ほんと、とんでもねぇよ、このオッサン。笑
ないことないことペラペラと吹きまくる、ミュンヒハウゼン男爵の奇想天外な冒険談に、「ンなコトあるわけないだろっ！」と突っ込みながらも、思わず笑ってしまう。
「教会の塔から馬を撃ちおとす話」とか「五人の抜群の家来の話」などが有名なほら話でしょうかね？あと、「ミルクの海にうかぶチーズの島の話」も子供のころ聞いた覚えがあります。
ところで、「ほらふき男爵」には、イギリス系の「マンチョーゼン」と、ドイツ系の「ミュンヒハウゼン」の2つのルーツがあるそうです。
（今回私が読んだのは、「ミュンヒハウゼン男爵」の冒険談です。）
この2人のほら話は同じ系統上にあって進化の度合いを少しく異にしているようですので、マンチョーゼン男爵とミュンヒハウゼン男爵、それぞれの話を読み比べてみるのも面白そうですね。
ちなみに、ミュンヒハウゼン男爵（ヒエロニュムス・カール・フリードリヒ・フォン・ミュンヒハウゼン）は実在の人物で1720年5月11日に生まれ、1797年2月22日に他界しました。ウェーゼル河畔のボーデンヴェルダーという所に領地をもった貴族で、相当由緒ある一門の出だそうです。本書巻末の訳者の解説には、ミュンヒハウゼン男爵についてもっと詳しく書かれていますよ。
